The Full Story

About

In April of 1978, I took an Amtrak sleeper car to New York City. I had seventy dollars in my wallet, my American Express Card, a place to stay, and the possibility of a part-time job. I promised my husband of two years that if I didn’t make it in six months, I’d come home, but when my six months ended, I refused to go back to South Carolina, and I’ve lived in New York City ever since.

The Lehman Trilogy

I made my Broadway debut in The Lehman Trilogy at the Nederlander Theatre on March 7, 2020. Due to a global pandemic, Broadway shut down on March 12, 2020. The Lehman Trilogy reopened on September 25, 2021. The play won five Tony Awards.

FBI
“Checks and Balances” Season 3, Episode 10
Directed by Stephen Surjik

March 2021. Covid is still in full swing but some series are shooting. I guest-starred as Betsy Kirkland. I had two days of work and on the days I wasn’t filming, I traveled to Greenpoint, Brooklyn for Covid testing. All protocols were in place. Everyone wore masks except the actors when we were shooting our scenes.

Walking from my trailer to set this sign made me smile.

In December 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic was at its height in the U.S. My manager sent me a request to take a selfie and I booked the job from this photo. Once I booked the job, I was petrified to actually do it. But it paid well so I decided to go for it. We had to do a Covid test prior to the shoot and again on the morning of the job (3:30 a.m. pickup down town). Oy!

They had a Covid testing site set up outside the Douglas House where we were shooting. We had to wait outside in the freezing cold to make sure we received a negative result before we were allowed to enter the site.

Succession
(HBO Series)

I played The Diner in a ski lodge and when Brian Cox began choking I asked if he was okay. They shot in Lake Placid, NY. I had a lovely room in the Mirror Lake Inn for two nights. Lots of ions in the air. Gorgeous.

TIGERTAIL
(Netflix)

Written, directed, produced, and acted by Emmy winner Alan Yang
starring Tzi Ma, Christine Ko, John Cho, Hayden Szeto, and Alan Yang.

I was cast as Gretchen to play Tzi Ma's girlfriend. We did two or three scenes, but in the end, my part was deleted from the film. This is why my credit on IMDB says uncredited. I loved working with Tza. He is gracious and kind.
